Just read the online news that Davy Jones, one of four members of the '60s pop band "The Monkees", died at his Florida home earlier today, at the age of 66.
Truth be told, my crush always centered on Mike - he was my 'fave' - but nobody ever seemed to rattle off those Monkees without naming Davy first.
Davy, Mike, Micky, and Peter. Sort of like John, Paul, George, and Ringo, just much less British, and not as musically gifted. No matter though, my first 'boy band' will always and ever be The Monkees.
Listening to Monkees tunes will never be (exactly) the same from this point on.
